Our new intern!

*Josie HoggardWe’re very excited here at Freyda’s Hands to welcome our first intern, Josie Hoggard! She will begin her 6-month internship with us on October 18, just in time for World on a String. Meet Josie:

Hello! My name is Josie Hoggard. I’m a recent graduate of the Global Studies program at Appalachian State University. I grew up in a tight-knit community in Greensboro, NC where music was an important factor to most get-togethers. When I went off to college in Boone, NC I was fortunate to find a wonderful community of people who were also very talented musicians, they inspired me to begin learning old-time banjo and to learn more about the music of the area. At ASU I got involved with the Appalachian Heritage council which is where my love of traditional music flourished. I served as the chairperson my senior year, and I know that the skills I learned from that will be put to good use at Freyda’s Hands. I’m excited to begin learning all I can about the organization, and the people that are involved with it. This organization does some very important work, and I feel very fortunate to be a part of it.
