In January, the Ensemble was in New York City for the APAP (Association of Performing Arts Presenters) conference, where they performed in two showcases and gave a house concert. That week Baakari Wilder and Nic Gareiss had the opportunity to perform together for the first time and to exchange ideas about percussive dance.
In February, all seven members of Dovetail Ensemble were together for a week which included development of new material, rehearsal, two days of workshops at Takoma Education Campus, and four performances: in Adelphi, MD; Princeton, NJ; New York City; and York, PA.
The trip to York, where they performed for the Susquehanna Folk Music Society, also included a free “Rhythms!” workshop facilitated by Nic and the rest of Dovetail Ensemble and supported by a grant from the Barbro Osher Prosuecia Foundation.
April will bring visits to Charlottesville and Richmond, VA. See our Upcoming Performances page for details. And if you’d like to bring Dovetail Ensemble to your town, please let us know!
